Good enough for me HD,

I think there are only two automated 'trash screens'

the one you mention on the River Porter next to Midland Station,

my photo was taken on the River Sheaf along side of Queens Rd,

just upstream of where the river disappears underground on it's journey towards Midland Station.

Yes jiginc I remember the snow gates on Queens Road,

Well in Sheffield it could be one of many now long gone schools which are now just a hole in the ground.

Remember Stuart that establishment we went to which in its day was a hive of educational excellence (it must have been, - it turned us out lol )is now just a big hole in the ground where a glass tower once stood, - the other bit being a few houses.

Vox reckons it's on John Street

I can't recall a school on there, unless its the school for Sheffield United supporters. :P

{I was once told by a Myers Grove School student (which is the school for Sheffield Wednesday supporters) that,-

"Everyone at Myers Grove supports Sheffield Wednesday

EVEN THE HEADMASTER supports Sheffield Wednesday"

Don't know Stuart, was it "The ragged arsed school for waifs and strays"?

I thought they were where the sheaf screen picture shows. you can see the left gate post. They were double gates painted green.

Sorry jiginc,

it is likely that i'm wrong.

For some unknown reason I thought the gates were near the bus stop.

This nicely cobbled lane leads nowhere,

wonder what it's called?

First I thought it was Plumb Lane (Bridge Street) but it isn't.

I think it's somewhere in that area though.

Not even warm vox,

this lane is not in the Millsands or Kelham Isle area.

Make it Hallam Lane then

Try driving into it with your SatNav switched on to get the name.

Remember it even gave a name to the un-named road that leads into the car park behind the Foxwood. ;-)

This Datestone is on building in Sheffield

Where?

Which Club was it?

This is a hard one, didn't know they had working mens clubs in those days.

View it full sized ukelele lady like I had to.

It says 1889, NOT 1339

They have a funny way of showing the figure 8

Was it Denby Street School, latterly used as a nursery school. I seem to remember a big campaign to keep it open. Of course they failed, it's obviously much more useful as a water filled hole in the ground.

It just goes to show how high the water-table is in central Sheffield, unless it's filled with sewage from broken drains.

I can see it's 1889 but I didn't think they had workingmen's clubs in 1889.
