hilldweller
There are too many instances on the internet which have it as standing for Hong Kong & Singapore Banking Corporation for it not to be so. I think. I always understood it to stand for the HONG KONG & SHANGHAI BANKING CORPORATION HD
Guest plain talker
As you like Toilet Wilcox so much Stuart have you noticed that she is appearing in the Christmas pantomime "Snow White" at Sheffield Lyceum this year? If so you will have noticed that she is playting the WICKED WITCH and not SNOW WHITE I used to be Snow White. Then I drifted! RichardB
I drive down that Rd every morning, looking for free parking, its got a very wintry name Wolley Mammoth Boulevard, these new Street names are getting silly ...
Stuart0742
Not sure, its before 7:30 when I drive down and round the corner onto A***N St or B*****Y St. Some free parking as long as you get there before 7:30 They did take some machinery out of 1 of those buildings last year I think, the road was blocked by a huge crane. I will investigate, unless you get there 1st I wanted to keep my parking places a mystery, so other people don't park there But Allen St and Blueboy St may help with finding U/L's street
Guest Falls2
Would have kept me going for months ! What Pub was it then ? I seem to remember it was a MASSIVE bar. Hi, I knew the building as the Grosvenor Hotel but not sure if it was the correct name. Never went inside though. Regards
Stuart0742
I wonder if this place is still in use , it still looks in good condition. This view on Snow Ln is the rear of premises on Smithfield. Walked past this morning, the factoriy on the left side as you head towards Scotland St has a "To Let" sign and there is no sign of life or even signage to say who was the last occupant Photo taken this morning at 7:30 on my phone then emailed to work then uploaded, not good quality, but it illustrates the location. Top Tip if you want a phone with a decent camera, don't get a basic 3G iphone.

vox
I knew you would know Steve , but what are they all about? The reason I had an educated stab at Sharrow was because Wilsons still make clay pipes at their snuff mill. "John Pollock & Company of Manchester, England began making clay pipes in 1879 and continued until Gordon Pollock's retirement in 1992. Not wanting to see such a classic tobacco art form end, Wilsons & Company purchased the molds and the Pollock name, continuing the legendary art of clay pipe making. Many of the original hand-pressed molds are still in use." source: sheffieldexchange.com I've had a look to find out who used to make them in the Nursery street area but haven't come up with anything yet. In the meantime I found this which I thought was interesting. Last Clay Pipe Maker (Gouda in Holland.)

hilldweller
Name the Road that can be seen in this photograph. I'll name that road in one ! Moss Road Totley, with a smoking air shaft to the Totley Tunnel in the background. HD Or it could be Lane Head Road at that point, so perhaps I'll name it in two !
