Mystery Location

I wonder if this could be it .. www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums

You don't need to look at the filenames Steve, - as someone who reads my posts you are well aware that I have posted this picture before and that it is indeed Manor Lane Junior School.

I didn't post it as a serious or difficult mystery location anyway, - it was more a bit of one upmanship with Stuart ;-)

However, here is a question for you as someone who lives at Heeley.

Ann's Road Junior School seems to be of the same general age and design as the 2 schools me and Stuart have just posted.

Does it have the same carved stonework design as our previously mentioned 2 schools?

Does it have a date on it?

If so, is it around the 1880's, what is it exactly? any chance of a date stone picture?

{go on, tell me the bad news Syeve, - Ann's Road is another one of those schools that has been closed and demolished so we will never know the answers :( )

Ebenezer Chapel, just off Shalesmoor; near the place with a tree growing through the roof.

No it's as the Crow flies Stuart,

traveling by Shank's pony the distance would be around 0:60 miles

Moved DaveH's reply re Petrol into relevant topic to continue any further petrol price discussion

http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/i...ost&p=43117,

Clue, its a school

also DaveH's

any ideas

I'm totally confused as to what we've got and what we've not. :(

This one (Dave H's) is on City Rd - bottom of Manor Lane. :)

It's another Innocent and Brown effort.

Should we be trying to document all the old Board Schools before they disappear?

Do we think that this carving may have appeared on all their schools?

Is there any way to find out?

Funny coincidence how vox has come up with this, - really spooky telepathy :o

Last night in one of our Wednesday quiz night boozer sessions me and Stuart were just discussing exactly this, with almost exactly the same questions.

We realised that there was already a topic on board schools (when Stuart reminded me I had already made some posts about "ragged arsed schools") but thought that the info on them should all be brought together in one place with pictures of all those which are still in existance.

Looks like Stuart has already taken this on board and has created the new topic already.

Hopefully, with the usual Sheffield History team work we will be able to answer all vox's (and our) questions.

Am I missing something or are we still trying to decide where this building is?
