  1. Jacdaw, I think you need to take a subscription to The British Newspaper Archive...it's £12.99 for a month, or you can access it through Findmypast as I do. The link below suggests there are over 3000 references to Toyne in the Sheffield newspapers starting in the 1830's. The beauty of it is you often find things that are not mentioned in the usual BMD and census returns. https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search/british-newspapers?date_offsetdate=1849-12-31&newspaper=sheffield daily telegraph, sheffield evening telegraph, sheffield independent, sheffield weekly telegraph, sheffield daily news, sheffield iris&lastname=toyne&modifiedfacets=true&exactnames=true&exactkeywords=true I think you can look at the snapshot, but you need to subscribe to read the article. A bit of Revill info...almost 9000 instances of Revill in the archive ( not all relevant of course) https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search/british-newspapers?date_offsetdate=1918-12-31&newspaper=sheffield daily telegraph, sheffield evening telegraph, sheffield independent, sheffield weekly telegraph, sheffield daily news, sheffield iris&lastname=revill&modifiedfacets=true&exactnames=true&exactkeywords=true

  2. Here's a photo of Harry Eccles in 1925: from picturesheffield - Harry Eccles Harry was born at Bishopthorpe just south of York in 1878. He married widow Lilian Rowley in 1909 at Leeds, and their daughter Muriel was born the next year. In 1911 they were running the Red Lion pub in Wetherby and Lilian was pregnant with their son, also to be named Harry. By 1914 the family was in Sheffield at Burgoyne road - Harry was fined at Rotherham for having no lights on his motorcycle (10 shillings) and a further 10 shillings because it was not registered. By the census in 1921 the family was at 21 Hawksworth road, Hilltop, from where in 1923 Harry was advertising the sale or exchange of his Douglas motorcycle combination. The advertising postcard above was around in 1925 advertising: Eccles and Co., No. 21 Hawksworth Road for 8, 10 and 12 ton rollers for hire". In 1928 he was selling a Douglas, recently overhauled by the manufacturer at a cost of 24s, the address of both Burgoyne road and Hawksworth road being provided. From 1925 to 1931 he ran a series of newspaper advertisements seeking a 3 bedroom house with a large yard suitable for engines. By December 1932 his newspaper advert as a Road Rolling and Threshing Contractor gave his address as 326 Sheffield road. Kelly's 1933 Directory shows him at 324 Sheffield Road, Tinsley, a road rolling contractor, telephone Attercliffe 41630. (Note the house number discrepancy).
