You really are remarkably good at this Ukelele Lady !

Thank you

There's nothing hard about it when you have all the info in front of

you. The hard part is . . I'd like help to put [as requested ] a new name

in the A to Z list without me scrambling everything. I had a go but it didn't

work.

I'd like to put in " The Old Red Lion , Main Street, Grenoside."

then I can fill in with the dates and keepers.

Can't be done, nature of the beast.

Reply to the previous pub entry, it will appear indented, as replies do, at least it will be in the correct alphabetical order.

Greater minds than mine (i.e. almost everyone) have pondered on this and there seems to be no answer.

I don't really understand the bit reply to the previous pub entry [ might be something to do with

the wine]

So even if we did find any new pubs wouldn't we be able to slot them in?

For now, we plod along, updating as we find. Should we discover new Pubs we can't splice them in (unless someone knows differently, I've never found a way) - one day - we get to do the whole alphabetical listing again - won't be this year for sure - I'll be lucky to get all your updates integrated into my "Master"-list.

We must just reflect on what we have done and give ourselves a pat on the back - it's a remarkable resource though I say so myself and getting better all the time.

Sorted it , put them one after the other after all they are in walking

distance. But I can't believe it can't be done.

I'll sleep on this one. B)

Where it says "Differs" are you recording both or deleting mine ? (Beyond caring )

So you've lost interest have you????

On this one I would delete yours because the names

the same before and after that date which seems he was there

continous for a few years but some of the others I;ve left both

Merged this one with The Bath "Bramall Street "

I believe it is meant to be the same place but a spelling error.

I have seen a site which lists all the publican or landlords from most of the public houses around Sheffield.

My great great Uncle was a publican or tavern keeper at The Lord Nelson but he isn't on the list. I have tried to enter the site to inform the creator of it, about my 2xgreat uncle, but had no luck.

If anyone can point me in the right direction or pass the information on for me.The Uncle was called Herbert Smith and from what I can gather, ran the pub from c.1882 until 1911 when they moved to The Old Chequers Inn on Weigh Lane.

Lord Nelson Arundel Street updated main list.

Interesting that someone with knowledge from a family history society who clearly would like to contribute valuable information to us can't get on our site.

Are we having problems with registering and verifying new members again?

Hi,

the following information maybe usefull for your pubs site;

Ram Hotel 100 Ecclesall Road 1902 Samuel Foxcroft

Brewers Inn 46 Blackmore street 1904-1910 Samuel Foxcroft

Hilltop Hotel 69 Attercliffe Road ? Samuel Foxcroft

Punchbowl 66 Bridge street 1911-1919 Samuel Foxcroft

Beerhouses 65 & 67 Attercliffe Common 1911-1925? James Lawless

Samuel Foxcroft had the Star Vaults Inn and Low Drop in Rotherham before coming to Sheffiel.

Samuel Foxcroft was my great grandfather and died at the Plough Inn, Greasborough Road in 1919. This was his daughters pub.

I am interested as to who was at the Burns Hotel, Sheffield Road between approx 1900 and 1960, any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Philip Rich

What about ,.... instead of deleteing the ones we have two of like

Barrel Lane End Chapeltown and

Barton Vaults West Street , leave the spot open/blank for future

new ones starting with B so we can then slot them in.

The same goes for any other duplicate starting with other letters

of the alphabet.

Of course that's anticipating that we will find some new ones.
