ukelele lady
The George 70 Market Place 1854 Mrs Esther Fisher 1871 Edwin Robinson 1890 William Carruthers The George seems to be in a bit of a mish mash as we also have the George at number 19 Market Place with some of the same names. Also some under 19 Market Place but in brackets number 70. Could it be the one of the same but had a number change over the years?
RichardB
For the benefit of newer members I'm to blame for the original list. Tsavo, Dobberd and me put up the original A-Z - it was thought if we waited until it was "perfect" we'd never get it online. So, we published it and hoped for corrections and additions - and the removal of the odd duplicate - we did our best at the time, the data, however was generated by me and any errors are of my doing. Every correction/addition/removal takes us a step closer to the original aim : "To make this a "World Beating" listing" and, yes, Tsavo did think I was bonkers for even trying it ! (We didn't know Trefcon was lurking with his ten-year masterwork on the Great War but we continue improving and we are immensely proud of the A-Z). It has been much improved since then by many people. Ukelele Lady is the current owner and major contributor; I do, however offer constructive criticism whenever I can. Your input to making the list better is eagerly sought and much appreciated. Regarding The George, I believe there was one and, as you suggest they are all the same place with slightly differing addresses, High Street, Market Place it's all the same spot. The George seems to be in a bit of a mish mash as we also have the George at number 19 Market Place with some of the same names. Also some under 19 Market Place but in brackets number 70. Could it be the one of the same but had a number change over the years?
