Ponytail
Map of Naylor, Vickers & Co, Millsands Steel Works, Exchange Brewery etc site. https://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;y06791&pos=27&action=zoom&id=98890 There was archaeological excavation work done on the site before Irwin Mitchell Riverside building was built. Some excavations preserved and could be viewed near their entrance. Tried several times to photograph them but the glass covering always seemed to be misted up. Has anybody got any photographs or a copy of the findings?

Ponytail
"Great damage was done at the new Works of Messrs. Naylor, Vickers & Co, at Brightside. The body of an old man who was employed at these works was found afterwards in a garden opposite Newhall. Another watchman upon the premises had a narrow escape. When the flood came he had only just time to get on to the roof, which he did by breaking a hole through the slates. The meadows, gardens and houses on the banks of the river in the neighbourhood of Brightside and onto Rotherham were if course all flooded."
