Do you remember those nights? Does your mother/father? Do your grand-parents? We would like to here your memories, anything from those nights, post it here and share those memories, much has already been recorded but there must be a lot of untold memories out there. Mellanby had a grant from the Ministry of Health to set up the Sorby Institute and investigate the transmission of scabies using people as guinea pigs.Twenty volunteers were selected from members of the Sheffield pacifist community who were all conscientious objectors. Professor Bartley discusses the bomb damage in Sheffield after the Blitz, the pacifist Arnold Freeman and the Industrial Settlement which Freeman had founded. RichardB Posted December 5, 2010 Share Posted December 5, 2010 Sheffield Blitz From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Sheffield Blitz is the name given to the worst nights of bombing in Sheffield, England during the Second World War. It took place over the nights of 12 December and 15 December 1940. Over 660 lives were lost, 1500 more were injured and 40,000 were made homeless. 3,000 homes were demolished with a further 3,000 badly damaged. A total 78,000 homes received damage.
