Nice timing !

He arrived at Sheffield on 12 December 1940, the night of the Sheffield Blitz. Mellanby had a grant from the Ministry of Health to set up the Sorby Institute and investigate the transmission of scabies using people as guinea pigs.Twenty volunteers were selected from members of the Sheffield pacifist community who were all conscientious objectors. Professor Bartley discusses the bomb damage in Sheffield after the Blitz, the pacifist Arnold Freeman and the Industrial Settlement which Freeman had founded.
