Guest ady
Hi I am new to this forum, so if this could be posted in a more applicable section please let me know. My grandafather when married in 1922 at the register office in Sheffield was a gunner in the 46th battery stationed at Hillsborough barracks. I know he fought in WW1 and was probably a professional soldier , but what I would like to know is more about the section of regiment ( I am not military) he was assigned to and how long they were stationed at Hillsborough. I think he was born in Horsforth , Leeds. Any popinters about the RFA in Sheffield would be great thanks Ady

dunsbyowl1867
This may help a little: http://www.warpath.o..._arty_index.htm Wikipedia "The last Army unit ( 29th Field (Howitzer ) Battery left the Barracks in February 1930, leaving the Barracks unoccupied except for a resident caretaker."
