dunsbyowl1867
Sorry wasn't able to PM this my grandfather Herbert Rhodes served in the Boer war (2nd.) and in world war 1, I believe he was in the coldstream guards, I have an association book of his saying he belonged to the Sheffield branch association which by now probably does not exist, You have a H. Rhodes listed on your site and i wondered if it could be him, Could you give me any information on this person in your list? I would be grateful for any help in tracing my grandfather as all other avenues have drawn a blank, regards Barry.
Guest Trefcon
Hi Dunsby, wrong H. Rhodes i'm afraid. BUT, all his papers should have survived. The Coldstream 'papers' weren't in the lot that got blitzed in London at the start of WW2. they should be at the barracks on Birdcage Walk in London, Wellington, i think. Family can apply for copies i'm sure. Dean.
