vox
I find some of their addresses surprising considering the type of living conditions at the time. Hollis Croft, Garden Street, Pond Street for instance.
DaveH
My 3x Great grandfather, Thomas Higginbottom (1817 - 1909) was 92 when he died. He lived at Norton, at that time a fairly rural village in Derbyshire. I would think that the rural, outdoor, unpolluted lifestyle contributed to his longevity. He is mentioned in Harold Armitage's Book, along with a line drawing of him by Charles Ashmore in his final year. He was afriend of Chantrey's, was present st his funeral and in later life received a generous pension from Chantrey's estate.
