He attended King Edwards school, appears on their Roll of Honour and also had the 'Ernest Adlington Scholarship' set up in memory of him by his parents. His name is also on the St Thomas's Roll of Honour at Wincobank. He was killed in action whilst successfully attacking the ' Wonderworks' at Thiepval.
