Pocket Knife Cutlin - A Dying Craft?

I wonder if anyone would be interested, (or knows of anyone who maybe) in some kind of co-operative venture to keep this craft alive in Sheffield?

I am aware that there are people out there who are in search of cutlery work to the extent of offering to work for nothing.

I wonder, would these people be willing to share the cost of renting a workshop and some machinery?

I am told, by some, the craft will simply die a natural death. I am not sure this needs to be the case.

I know that there seems to be a growing interest and there is still a demand out there, particularly abroad.

I believe that Sheffield shops are actually in need of Sheffield made knives. The stumbling block seems to be price in the face of foreign examples at "give away" prices.

Workshops are fast dissapearing, being demolished or turned into flats. I am told however, that, it should still be possible to find one.

Hence the idea of a co-operative of "Little Mesters" ? (not incidently, a new idea)
