Lion and Lamb

An old Sheffield pub which stood in Pea Croft was called the Lion and Lamb and on its sign was inscribed :

If the Lion should kill the lamb,

We'll kill the Lion if we can.

But if the Lamb should kill the Lion,

We'll kill the Lamb to make a Pie on.

Strange, but apparently, true ....

I believe this to be the same place ...

George BAILEY Taverns & Public Houses (Lamb) Radford Row Pigot's 1828-9

Jethro TURNER Vict. Lion and Lamb Radford Row Pigot's 1841

This one, however, is entirely different (and new to me)

Thomas RYCROFT vict. Lion and Lamb 4 Shude Hill White's 1833
