Guest gingernut
I wonder if you experts could help with any info please. 6 inch Bowie . Stacked leather and brass handle varnished wood pommel. Marked with a violin and Sheffield make. Ibberson? On other side of blade marked Harrods Brompton Rd. SW. I know Harrods has not been SW for a long time. I would guess knife is early 60s. Cant do photos at present. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to SH Gingernut, I suspect that your knife was made in Sheffield and sold by Harrods (in Brompton Road London- where as you can see they continue to trade) Were you thinking they had been somewhere else? My Grandma was born in Brompton Road Attercliffe but always shopped at the Co-op! http://www.harrods.com/harrodsstore/user/contact-us

I am just intrigued by the Harrods connection and the fact that postcode is SW means there is some age to it. Cant imagine a department store commissioning Bowie knives these days. I have a few more Sheffield knives that I want to research.Think I have found the right place!
