Guest victorian gardens
Hello. I am new to Sheffield History Forum. I am trying to date this Joseph Rodgers & Sons teapot. It is a beautiful piece, which I have owned since Feb 2000. It has the Joseph Rodgers & Sons marking including the EPBM and the number X163. I have tried searching the internet for this number to see if that would date it without any luck. I would also like to know an approximate value. It does have rubbing to the electroplate. I bought it back in 2000 for $48.71 US. Thank you for your consideration.

vox
A beautiful item, hopefully we can gain some knowledge about it. Welcome to the Site. Starter for ten, EPBM ? Dates ? EPBM Electro Plated Brittania Metal. As opposed to EPNS Eletro Plated Nickle Silver. If I remember rightly from my "Junk Shop" days Brittania metal was cheaper than nickle silver but softer I think. I can give you an "after" date because the Silver Electroplate process wasn't invented until around 1850.
