Meeting on an open piece of ground in the Park, of the friends of freedom and Parliamentary reform ; declaration drawn up in favour of reform, and in disapprobation of Government prosecutions for seditious writings and libels.

parlimentary by-election in Hallam. Herbert Fisher elected and as a Liberal was the first non-Conservative to hold the seat. The set was retaken by the Conservatives in 1918.

Death of L/C. ERNEST BURROWS, Y & L, beloved husband of EDITH BURROWS, who died at Pontefract Decr 16th 1916, aged 41 years. Buried in Burngreave Cemetery.
