Hello All,

Please be patient with me i am new to this game, along with being a computer novice.

I am trying to find out some more information on the following man.

15346 Pte C. Darlow D.C.M. 3rd Batt Coldstream Guards.

He enlisted in Sheffield and Won the D.C.M London Gazette 3rd Sept 1918, his citation was :

"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While acting as stretcher bearer, though wounded in the hand and forearm by shell splinter, he continued to succour his comrades, remaining at duty another two days until wounded in the arm by a machine gun bullet. He undoubtedly saved many lives."

I understand that he won the D.C.M. nr Ervillers between 22nd-31st March 1918.

If anybody has any more information or even better a photograph of this brave man, i would really appreciate it.

Many Thanks and Best Rgds

Hello 'Nulli',

Although he enlisted in Sheffield, was Charles a Sheffield lad?

I have no mention of him anywhere, i have now though downloaded his two cards.

His papers should have all survived, Guards papers were kept sperate from the rest of the army papers. You should find these at Wellington Barracks on Bird Cage Walk in London. Sorry, no address or contact details but a quick Google should help.

Dean.
