Montgomery found the Sheffield Iris in July 1797 and is also noted for his "Angels from the Realms of Glory' hymn. A statute to Montgomery stands outside the Cathedral. 4 November 1989 Sheffield Wednesday defender Phil King makes his debut after signing from Swindon. 4 November 1995 Shiregreen born Entertainer Marti Caine died 4 November 2002 HMS Sheffield (F96) a Type 22 Frigate decommissioned and later sold to the Chilean Navy.
