Bridgehouses railway station close to passengers.

Sheffield Victoria railway station opened.

Charles Beilby Stuart-Wortley, first Conservative MP for Sheffield elected 1880. Represented Sheffield 1880-1885 then Sheffield Hallam 1885-1916.

15 September 1857

Foundation stone of new Roman Catholic Girls & Infants school laid at the corner of St Marys Road and Sheaf Gardens. The school would cost £3,680 to build.

15 September 1965

'Sheffield Telegraph and Independent' newspaper rebranded 'Sheffield Morning Telegraph'
