He was made Venerable in 1891 and was beatified in 1929, one step away from full sainthood. 24 July 1800 Henry Shaw, Botanist, born in Sheffield. Founded the Missouri Botanical gardens in the US 24 July 1861 William Sykes born. Sykes was the Vicar of Hillsborough & Wadsley 1895-1919. 24 July 1930 The first new Library in Sheffield since 1906 was opened on this day.
