Gales and Martin's 1787 directory

I hope this won't offend neddy who has already posted an abstract of this directory, but the alphabetical listing in the second part of the directory omits around 400 people who appear in the first part; mostly tradespeople who lived in the surrounding villages like Wadsley and Heeley, but also around 25 'town' dwellers who failed to make it into the A-Z.

Rather than post 1450 lines of text I include here two files, - a plain text file - G-M1787.txt, and a data file - G_Mdata.txt. This file can be imported into a spreadsheet or database by specifying 'tab' as the delimiter/seperator.

Names in the file marked with an asterisk* are those missing from the original alphabetical listing.
