A little correction on notes!

Sheffield Association of Girl Guides, purchased Whiteley Wood Hall and 8acres of surrounding lands

in NOVEMBER 1935 at a cost of £3,000.  J.G.Graves loaned the Association £2,500 for the purchase.

In JANUARY 1936 the roof of the Hall was removed for safety, as it was falling in.

In 1959 the firm of James Childs Ltd completely demolished the Hall.

We lived down the valley from there. I was only little when it was demolished and don't remember it,

but Mum said it was a beautiful place. We knew a couple that used to live in a cottage in the corner of

the farm stable block, amazing place it was, huge open stone fireplace, and the biggest kitchen table I've

ever seen. Had a really thick, heavy, wooden front door as well.

Very good to see I'm getting responses from old posts that either had lost the Picture Sheffield links or was an unanswered question. 😁 Always good to add to or correct information.
