dunsbyowl1867
Deansgirl was telling me he came across a book about footballers who fought in the first World War - this is a page from the great Sheffield Wednesday player Jimmy Seed who was rejected by Sunderland when he returned from being gassed on the the battlefield. He later played for Tottenham & Wednesday, followed by managerial career with Charlton Athletic. Anyone know of any others footballers who went to the front? For information regarding footballers who fought, and died in WW1 read "When The Whistle Blows" by Andrew Riddoch and John Kemp this give a marvellous insight what happened to the stars of the day,and the animosity to those who still played and watched football matches whilst men were being killed.
