Assuming that the word hall is here used in its old sense, we may infer, I think, that Raisin Hall was originally a wooden house of considerable size. I take it that the original name was simply ræsn, used in the sense of a roofed hall, and that the word "hall" was attached at a later time when ræsn had been forgotten.
