johnm
My father in law Les Moore manned one of the "Little ships" that went across the Channel to pick people up from the Dunkirk beaches. He was in the Royal Navy and happened to be stationed down there at the time.

Facinating stuff Here's a story of a Sheffield man who wasn't rescued at Dunkirk and became a prisoner of war http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/20/a8437520.shtml

Guest beatle
My Dad - Arthur Jackson was there in the 15th./19th Kings Royal Hussars Regiment and he got back safely and survived the rest of the War. He very rarely talked about his experiences during the War only when film was shown on TV of the Dunkirk beaches when he would say " I was there." One of his mates was killed after D - Day. His name was Arthur Burgin and he lived in Carbrook. I think he left a Wife and Child.
