Hi all

Just found this site and hoping someone has a long memory!

My great grandfather was George Frederick Astwood Reaney who lived at Cross Addy st from about 1906/07 until his death in 1948. At the time of his death he was a newsagent and I am guessing that he worked close to his home. He and his wife Rosa (nee Rolley) had 3 surviving children...

His son, also George, married Rose Walster and they lived for some time in nearby Creswick st as did another child Elizabeth who married Tom Gregory. My grandmother Florence Reaney married Ernest Miles and moved to Mackenzie st.

Does anyone remember a newsagent in the Upperthorpe, Netherthorpe or Walkley areas in the 40's run by George Reaney and his wife Rosa, or their children?

Here's hoping

Tim
