Ponytail
Diocesan Babies Home, Holtwood, Abbeyfield Road. 1925 p00046 Sheffield Babies Home was for illegitimate children until they were two years old, when they were returned to their mothers or fostered. Only the first child of a mother was accepted. The home was established in 1918 at Chantry House. It moved in October 1919 to Holtwood on Abbeyfield Road, Pitsmoor. It moved again in 1930 to East Bank House, East Bank Road. From a photograph album entitled 'vol. 2 England 1923, 1925-1926.' The album appears to relate to St Cuthbert’s parish, Fir Vale. It is possible, given the title, it belonged to Rev. B. Jayawardina who features on a few of the photographs. (He may have originated from Sri Lanka.)
