Guest nosy nellie
Does anyone remember the Tarzan field on Bradfield Road. It was where the old council offices were and dunelms. It was a large field all overgrown and we used to play there and we could walk under the bridge when the river was low and also play there and paddle in the river. It was a lot cleaner than it is now, Ah progress. Guest nosy nellie
Why was it called the Tarzan Field ? Were there tree's to swing from too ? Yes. and to us as children in the fifties when the old tarzan films were being shown at the cinema I suppose it looked like a jungle. At the entrance to the field there was a large metal gate at the side of a large stone built house, which I think was a doctors, this would be situated roughly opposite The Old Blue Ball.if my memory serves me right.
