Regarding the cabs, the caption says the fares were 1 shilling for the first mile, and sixpence for each additional mile. They could also be hired by the hour, the price depending on the number of passengers. for 1-2 passengers it was 2 shillings, for 3-4 it was 2/6d. between midnight and 6 am fares were charged at one and a half times the normal rate.
