Hi Tsavo. In 1901 William was a "heating engineer" in the census but within 10 years he was describing himself as a gas fitter living in the Heeley area. In 1924 he moved to Grimesthorpe and worked based at the Gas Board works on Upwell Street as a gas fitter. So whether the cricket club was associated with work or not I don't know.
