Soccer Violence at Bents Green

Match held at Bents Green between a team from Sheffield and a team from Norton.

This was a violent game, resulting in several broken shins. Norton proved the winners.

Violence then broke out between supporters resulting in a pitched battle, in which the Sheffield supporters came off worst. Some of the Sheffield supporters summoned help, and reinforcements arrived armed with stakes taken from nearby hedges, and the Norton supporters were badly beaten.

That is fantastic record! I bet there were complaints that players were getting paid to highly back then as well.

That's quite a story.
