RichardB Posted June 12, 2008 Share Posted June 12, 2008 On a fruit knife handles (circa 1860) : 'In Sheffield's town was I made Both pearled haft and silver blade A Londoner would waste his life Attempting to make such a knife' and on a silver-scaled penknife (Rodgers, circa 1850) : 'I'm Sheffield made Both haft and blade London for thy life Can't make such a knife' they obviously had a lot of time on their hands !!!
