The 5,670sq m project — 1 North Bank — on a former industrial site in Wicker is the first phase of a wider BDP masterplan for residential and office development that aims to regenerate the area. The ambitious, £500 million retail quarter, masterplanned by BDP for developer Hammerson, will create a new retail heart for Sheffield on an 8ha site, centred around a 25,000sq m flagship John Lewis store by O’Donnell & Tuomey. A total of 25 practices were considered for the project.
