Unidentified Church. 

Photographer: Laurence Frederick Peacock. 

This image was originally part of the Tim Hale Photographic Collection. It was purchased at auction in September 2019 through donations from members of the public and a grant from the Graves Trust.

Laurence Frederick Peacock born 1838 died 1900.

He was the gentleman who took the photographs of the Sheffield Flood in 1864. Also took photographs in Derbyshire.

Architects Drawing, Unidentified Church. 

Date Period 1851-1899. 

Holmes & Watson, Architects, Sheffield. 

Possible it didn't get off the drawing board.

Size: 48 x 38 cm.

Original at Sheffield Archives SY20/B1/7.

 

Always possible it wasn't built.

The Gate Posts look the same and the wall on right is also

Lamp posts are in similar positions, the stone cottages just down Walkley Bank Road (R/H side of photo, past the building), look the same.

The owners of the gym, Sue (poss Barnes) went on to run The Firwood Cottage on Whitehouse ln

The second image ( showing a multi faceted angular end at road junction of Walkley Road/Walkley Bank Road) is Walkley Primitive methodist Chapel, still there but now flats.
