Ponytail
John Osborne Silversmiths, cutlery manufacturers, Westwick Works, Solly Street. In 2004/5, I ordered from Osborne a canteen of Cutlery for a wedding present for my son and future daughter in law. When I went to collect it an older man wearing his work apron served me, (I think he was the owner/manager) we had a very interesting conversation about the cutlery. All around buiIding work was in progress and I was told they too were moving because of redevelopment and he waved his hand saying down there when I asked where to. Unfortunately they weren't exactly moving elsewhere. Not long after the works were demolished and if I remember right a green coloured building replaced it. I thought the Osborne name was lost for future generations but it appears in 2010 Carrs took over the "name". c01297 John Osborne Silversmiths, cutlery manufacturers, Solly Street from the junction with Tenter Street showing the Metis Building under construction. The records of Osborne are listed as being at Sheffield Archives.
