Stunmon
Many of the Sheffield steelworks welcomed young Arabs to work in the Sheffield steelworks in the 1950s. Which were the most popular works? And did many of them stay on and raise families here?
Ponytail
Definitely South Machine Shop, English Steel Corporation where my dad was Foreman. He was sympathetic to their prayer time and was invited to a religious celebration probably to do with Ramadan but politely declined. May be mistaken but think most of them were from Yemen. Lysanderix
One certainly married a Sheffield girl with whom he had several children. He suddenly left when the Aden peninsula became a part of the Yemen and he joined their nascent government. After a revolution he was last heard of as an agent for a European car manufacturer in Abhu Dhabi..
