Ponytail
Spencer and Atherton, manufacturers of powder flasks, dram bottles, fishing rod hoops etc., 49 Carver Street. Advertisement from Illustrated Guide to Sheffield. 1862. Late with James Dixon & Son. Were they a short lived business?
Edmund
Mr Joseph Cocker of the Spencer, Cocker and Atherton partnership baled out just prior to the 1862 advert. Frederick Spencer went bust in May 1864 and all his powder flask and dram bottle working tools were sold. John Atherton went back to making powder flasks on his own. They might have been better staying working for James Dixon!
