Edmund
Harry started in partnership with Mr John Wright of Spring Works, introduced by his solicitor. Previously Harry had been a manager with Wilson, Hawksworth & Ellison & Co, steel converters, Carlisle Works. He set up a tangle of loans, and then went into partnership with Major G.E. Ashburner, who put in further investment, all of this poorly documented. Harry went bust in October 1862, and his goods and equipment (also his fancy French ornaments and ARTICLES OF TASTE ) were auctioned off over the following months. Court cases by his creditors rumbled on for three years. By June 1867 at the Trades Outrages Commission, a certain Mr Broadhead admitted that he was responsible for blowing up with gunpowder the premises of Holdsworth who was now employed in Hull and had been receiving threatening anonymous letters. By 1871 he was back in Sheffield (Ecclesall Road).
