From "Water Power on the Sheffield Rivers" edited by David Crossley, with Jean Cass, Neville Flavell & Colin Turner.

"Wicker Tilts and Wheel.

From 1785 the works were leased by Blonk and Co, who were named in the 1794 list. They bought the tilts from the Norfolk Estate in 1810 and appear in directories and the Brightside rate books until 1871.

In 1849 Cocker were their tenants, there were still 36 troughs at the Grinding wheel but by the 1870 a wire mill had been built there, although the wheel was still rated. As head and fall are entered in the rate books in 1871, James Cocker still used water power, confirmed by the 1874 and 1895 lists, which record Vickers drawing wire using a low breast wheel."
