Hi. I live in Colchester in Essex, but my paternal family come from Darnall. I work in vintage retail for a local charity and by some weird coincidence a mirror from the Sheffield United Gas Oil Lamp Co. found it’s way to my shop!!! Of course, I HAD to buy it because of my family’s connection to Sheffield; I would love to know how the mirror found it’s way from Sheffield to Essex, but sadly our donated goods don’t come with any provenance….

Is the mirror similar to these?

I think your mirror is a result of the advertising mirror trend around thirty odd years ago, these type of mirrors were reproduced in their thousands but that doesn’t detract from the adverts they carried.

Hi. Thanks for info. Yes - my mirror is like those in the photos; may not then be authentic, but I love it anyway ☺️

So you should Kim.
