The Ministry of Defence owned Sheffield Forgemasters Ltd. maybe?

MOD did not own Forgemasters. It was a successor Company to English Steel Corporation which previously occupied the site

Some tantalising snippets of the interior, taken by a group of ‘urban explorers’ in 2015…

Also, nice detailed architect plans of building, on PS…

Zoomable to really precise detail, lower link is of basement, so may answer some earlier questions? Wonder what the 2 “Strong Rooms” held? Workers wages maybe???

It's remarkable how much was left inside the building -- furniture, ledgers etc. - as if they were expecting the work force to return after a a holiday break...

Sorry to be contrary, but MoD are actually the parent company of Sheffield Forgemasters. It was nationalised in 2021, to protect their manufacturing capabilities, if ever needed to supply our military, in times of need…..

Sometimes these companies have public open days. So maybe Forgemasters could be persuaded to open the Vickers building up for that? It is a listed building after all.

Apologies RLongden I was not aware of that very recent development

Forgemasters was created like River Don Stampings following denationalisation of British Steel Corporation of which ESC was a part.
