Lysanderix Posted November 16, 2022 Share Posted November 16, 2022 Poor construction and engineering caused the Great Sheffield Flood but with changing weather patterns( which have also happened in the past) there is more reason to reintroduce those hard working beavers, allow the moors to absorb water and stop concreting and asphalting ever more land as well as building on flood plains. Absolutely! Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust are doing great work in implementing nature-based solutions to flooding - the work they are doing across Limb Brook and the Upper Don Catchment is extraordinary. It's actually amazing the the Council and Environment Agency are working together with them on it. The Trust are also putting effort into investigating the possibility of reintroducing beavers too - hopefully we'll hear more in that in coming weeks/months. And of course campaigning to prevent moorland burning and manage moors better for wildlife, the environment and climate continues.
