No.38 Spence Broughton was hung at York in April 1792 and only (only?) gibbetted at Attercliffe.  I'd never heard of a folk song called "Spencer the Rover" - but it apparently comes from Norfolk, even though the subject was rambling near Rotherham.  (no relation to either Spence Broughton, or Sid Rumpo)
