Edmund
In the aftermath of the Sheffield Flood in 1864, the occupant of Philadelphia House, the Revd Charles Wright, curate of St Philips church, woke to find that his garden wall (8 feet high) had been overtopped by the floodwaters, the garden was full of mud and had a bewildered horse there, swept down from a stable up the valley and over the wall. The horses halter was still tied to a large stone which had formed part of the stable.
