Hi,

Does anyone have any photos of the Rock Tavern in the 1800s? Or even more recent? I found out some of my Fam Hist. relatives lived there, 1859

That’s in Dixon Lane, I’m not certain but when it was sold it went for over £30,000 a fortune at the time, the butchers just down bought it.

From June 1st, 1859...also a report of a Mr Fordham there in the same year.

Not a photo, but a decent description from it's sale in 1901.

The photo shown below of the market stall outside the Rock Tavern belongs to my husbands Grandma Elsie and Grandad Ben, you can see Elsie at the stall, they used to sell salad stuff and she used to go in the snug for a brandy to keep warm,  I used to help her on Saturdays when I was courting my husband
