Guest Helen Ullathorne
Hello All, For over ten years I have been recording the practice trenches and other WW1 features on Quarry Hill and what has been named Hill 60, to the North of the upper Redmires reservoir. This is a very rare and important archaeological site for the whole of the South Yorkshire/North Derbyshire area, if not the country. Sadly, I noted severe damage to the area on the southern flanks of Quarry Hill when visiting the site today. It seems a dog-leg trench has been dug, with associated firing holes and trench 'revetting'. If any of you know about this I would be very grateful for any information that might help us protect this very special area. Many thanks, Helen Ullathorne
