bczel01
Hi, Have been researching my partner's family and she is related to the Wilson brewing family from Sheffield. I was wondering if anyone has any additional information about the company and brewery? From looking a other forums on the site, it seems they were based at Parkside Brewery on Blast Lane/Sussex Street. I also get the impression that the company was actually owned initially by the Roper family? On the 1852 directory entry, the brewery is owned by John Roper and managed by Matthew Wilson (who married a Roper). On a later entry (1893) the brewery is now called Wilson Bros. and now being run by Matthew's sons John Roper Wilson and Joseph William Wilson. From looking on Ancestry, it seems they left exceptional amounts of money for the time in their wills/probate, etc. Thanks. Chris.
