kevstones
I have a relative, Thomas Nixon, living on Church Street, Attercliffe cum Darnall on the 1871 census. Looking at previous pages I can see Deakins Yard which was off what is now Attercliffe Road. Am I right in assuming that Attercliffe Road was previously called Church Street leading down from Banners to Christchurch? I know that they changed some names at that time because he moved to Brook Street in Darnall which later became March Street. Looking on the internet it appears that I'm not the only one asking this question. Any help would be appreciated. Kevin
SteveHB
Church Street was more or less where Worksop Road is now, it was opposite Christ Church on Attercliffe High Street (now Attercliffe Rd.). Link to Flash Earth
